Hello,

I have been trying for a long time to get hired on at the University of Utah Hospital or the Huntsman Cancer Center. They accept my application but I have not been given an interview. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Not sure if you are "doing" anything wrong but it is such a super competitive job market that the employers are back in the driver seat. It seems that up until about 12-18 months ago, the employee could be the picky one in the job market. Things have certainly changed-I have a stack of applications/resumes in the back-for working at the ski shop. I am surprised at the over qualified people that are applying for an entry level job.

The University is hurting financially. In addition, hospitals (in general) are facing more people coming into the emergency room unable to pay.

Might even be a hiring freeze up at the U.

If you are a health professional (Nursing, OT, PT, etc.) try looking at the IHC Hospitals - they've just opened a hospital in Riverton. Also try the MountainStar Hospital system (St. Mark's, Pioneer Valley Hospital) - they are building a hospital/clinic in Draper near 11800 South and State Street. A couple of hospital office buildings are going up in that area.

If your specialty is oncology - I'd look up practicing oncologists and see if there's a job link there.
