We are planning to move to Vancouver sometime in the next couple of years. if we start work in Portland do we end up having to file income taxes in both states? It was our understanding that this was true but we need a definite answer. Thanks...

You have to fill out the tax forms for both states. Get a good accountant lol. If you are a truck driver, you *may* be exempt (but if you drive truck, you already know that.)

I am pretty sure WA does not have an income tax, so you should not have any forms to file there.

There's still the Federal taxes to be paid, so obviously there's some forms to file.

OP, the OR Dept. of Revenue would be a good place to check upon: Department of Revenue: Personal Income Tax Which Oregon Tax Form Do I File?

You can use their forms to file.
