Hello - Does anybody have any information/opinion/scoop on the Hayes Freedom High School (formerly known as Camas Alternative High School or CAD)? I've read the website and student handbook, but would appreciate any additional info. We're moving to the East County area soon, and looking for options for my 15 y/o, not-so-traditional, school-disliking daughter. Thanks much!!

Default I know all about Hayes Freedom

Hayes freedom high school is a great place for alternative education. I'm actually a student there, and it isn't just for trouble makers. if it were, my mom wouldn't have let me enroll there. The principal Mrs. Holmes, is great and if you need any information, you can just contact her or someone in the office. The teachers are awesome, and the students are one big family. I'm sure your daughter would like it.

Default thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Mandy. Would you mind if I contacted you through direct messages for more info? I sent an email to the principal today.

I really appreciate your reply!

Hello--these are older blogs but we are REALLY EXCITED about Hayes Freedom HS here in Camas. We are new to the area and our son will start there as a jr and will be in the first graduating class in the new "green" building which will be the first in the nation. Hey, America, how cool is this?? Hayes Freedom HS was named for Dennis Hayes, founder of Earth Day. This new green building will be completely we understand run on wind and solar power and "carbon neutral". The students will be repsonsible for managing their energy use in the building and will gain first hand knowledge of not only green building practices but managing and operating a green building. So move over, Greenburg, there is a new kid, er, kids in town! This school should be making national news, this is really, really cool. The students will learn organic farming principles as well by maintaining an organic garden in the complex. In addition to a great acedemic education, these kinds of life skills are priceless.
