Attention residents of the "couv" or is it "couve". When I google Gifford Pinchot national forrest lots of cool pictures sites and things to do come up. How far and accessible are some of these things if say I am living in downtown Vancouver ? Just looking into how much outdoors stuff is readily available on the WA side of the Columbia if I decide to move to Vancouver
thanks

Take the very affordable Skamania transit 30 min east to Carson & you will be in the middle of the south edge offer or entity it. trout lake is gateway to spectacular
Mt Adams, and then there is Mt St Helens. All within one hr. Oregon has more waterfalls. Move to the gorge. Very nice, w/ Rough weather, but few people. Hiking & photo out the back
door.

packwood hotel is a fun way 2 get access to the north side. GF is a good place to get mushrooms.and huckleberries.

It's about 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Go to Carson and head north. If you have a 4 wheel drive or something like a Subaru Outback, you can get on the logging roads and go deep into the forest. There are many hidden lakes and campgrounds to find.

If you plan on doing that I recommended you pick up a handheld CB for emergencies and to find out if logging trucks are barreling down the road in your direction.

Just saw this in the local paper. It should give you some ideas.
