If you like middle-eastern, Anoush deli (4th plain) is decent [Anoush is actually Armenian, so you have a mix of Middle-Eastern and slavic influences - hummus and/or borsch!], though not likely to be convenient to anywhere else you'd be. Downtown I like Mon Ami creperie as a place for a light lunch.

The number of places actually on the water is pretty limited because of where the rail line is sited. There's the small pod of restaurants/coffee shops off SE Columbia River Dr (Beaches/McMen/Savona Coffee). Alternatively there are a handful of restaurants (local and chains) overlooking Esther Short Park downtown.

I haven't eaten at any, but it's a nice location. XokDee (thai) gets pretty good reviews, but I have better options closer to where I live. In East Vancouver generally it skews pretty heavily towards chains but sure, you could go to a Burgerville or McGrath's.

A place on the riverfront would be nice or even a nice local spot would be good too.
On the waterfront: Beaches or McMenamins.
Across the highway from the waterfront" Lapellah.
Downtown Vancouver: Tommy O's, Thai Orchid, Willem's on Main, Luxe.

bler - Wow that burgerville place looks delish. Solely going off some pics online the Peppercorn Burger looks good but not sure how it would taste. Would definitely want to try their milkshakes though

NCDavid - Thanks for the breakdown. I'm guessing this McMenamins is quite abundant around town with many locations. Would love to try some of their beer/food. Wow Tommy O's looks good! I had no idea there were so many Hawaiian restaurants in the Vancouver/Portland area but there seems to be a lot. I hear good things about Ate-oh-Ate and 808 grinds, so was gonna check those out too!
