We are retired and wanting to downsize from 53 acres in CA sierras, to 2-5 acres within an hour-ish of Portland airport. Love nature, gardening, hiking, biking and pine forests. Need a view, territorial or water and within 20 minutes to major grocery store. Looking to purchase 2800+SF , for not more than $450K with a small shop and 3 car garage for just tinkering. Have seen a couple nice homes on Silver Lake, but area seems it's declining? Also, Cathlamet and Puget Island look nice and saw a really nice place 20 minutes up Columbia Heights, above Hwy 4, above Longview. Not impressed with Battle Ground, seems too congested unless way out. Kalama has great views of the Columbia! Would like to also be within 1 hour of Scappoose, where we have family. Need help narrowing down my options to just a couple communities. Suggestions?
