Ginger Pop was good the two times I went recently, nice that the owners kept the quality up.

Bortolami's has a sign posted on the cash register that Washington minimum wage increase forced them to raise prices- but still no prices so you don't know the total until you pick up, and it seems to vary a bit from time to time even with the same order. The pizza is really good but unfortunately can't justify 17-18 bucks for a medium pizza.

Mars Restaurant in East Vancouver and Golden City on Hwy 99 are pretty good for Chinese.

For Detroit style pizza, East Glisan is great though they only have it on Tuesdays. I don't like the New York style there.

Mars was not to our liking, but we have not been to Golden City. We will give it a try.

Thai Time in the strip mall on NE 49th close to the Asian Market. It is AMAZING!! Read the reviews, all 5 stars. They have been opened a few months and we would go every week if we could. The food is fresh, prepared specifically to order, and super yummy. My favorite so far is Cashew Nut with veggies. The restaurant has a industrial vibe and is clean and the wait staff are friendly, attentive, and take time answering questions. Give them a try, they are closed Mondays~

Finally went to Sushi Mo. it was so underwhelming. Talk about disappointment. The service was great but the Sushi was just, ok. It wasn't bad just boring.

Sorry you were disappointed! Can you recommend a place you like in Vancouver? We found Sushi Mo anything but boring!

Looking for a good Vietnamese place that has a lemongrass beef bun salad. Have tried a couple of the highly reviewed places only to find that the beef option even though on the menu wasn't available and saved only for busy times apparently. Strangely, I've been told the same thing at a weekday lunch and a busier weekend dinner service. Any recommendations?

Liked Bortolami's pizza but they don't publish the prices and last time I want they had raised them significantly. It's something like 16 bucks for a 12 inch one topping now, which you can get at Pizza Hut for $6, and the quality difference isn't sufficient.

Szechuan Chef on macadam still the best Chinese place I've been to. C'est La Vie in Hazel Dell is a new favorite. Went back to East Vancouver and found Khun Jo shuttered.
You know, dining out in Portland is not convenient for us. Traffic is too bad.

I agree about Mars. Everything is fried.

Not bad on the weekends though- I've been going in to Portland regularly on Saturday and Sunday. I guess it's easier for me since I'm close to 5 rather than 205. It's worth it to me to go in for things I can't find in Vancouver.

I do the 9PM happy Hours in Portland (or the early ones on the 'few' rainy days I happen to be in town)

The many Multnomah Public Libraries are very handy place to hang out when you want to miss trafficm there are 5 near I-205 (Clark County residents can get Multnomah cards). Even better is the 4 Private U libraries along I-205 (I have not tried them since I was a student a few yrs ago). Concordia U has a really nice library and quite EZ to 205 or I-5. Good happy hours / cafes nearby, as well as History Pub! @ Kennedy School.
