Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the Vancouver area and am hoping to get some recommendations on recycled metal suppliers. I'm looking for standard metalworking/welding stock - square/rectangular tube, steel plate, etc. I've been looking online and am not having much luck.

Back where I used to live, we had Pacific Steel & Recycling, where I could purchase used or new product. The closest one to here is over 3.5 hours away in Yakima. Does anyone know of anything similar in the Portland/Vancouver area? I'm looking specifically to get used/recycled product as it was often way cheaper.

ugh... we lost the 'Steel Yard' outlet in NE PDX last yr. I bought thousands of # from them for many years, incuding beams for my house (/ 2 story garage , cars on each level)

They do still have a "First quality" yard on Columbia BLVD.

Probably some of the recycling places in Portland will be selling steel since scrap is so low priced.

If you are north Vancouver, I hope there is something in Longview, as Portland sources are drying up.

I wish I had the answer... cuz I need some steel! (Used preferred). Keep me posted if you find some! (cheap)

If you are a 'serious' yard art fan... don't miss Spirits of Iron next trip to Rainier NP west gate.

I don't see any pics of the 'Rocking Horse' ~12' tall with a Frayed logging cable mane and tail, and railroad rail 'rockers'. Oh my... it is spectacular!

And DW wonders why I have (9) welders of various types...

Most famous project was building (3) Racing beds for the Vancouver Days Fireman bed-race. The final version made to the US Nationals in NYC, it weighed 11# including the composite racing wheels from a wheelchair. The 'deck' was honeycomb from Boeing Surplus. Fun times of yesteryear in SWWA.
