from the time i was 12-14 i lived there, i guess my neighborhood was off fourth plain and grand, where the fred meyers store was, uncle milts pizza, there was a grade school there, evergreen park a couple blocks to the north.

anyways, i was just curious, what is that part of town like these days?
it used to seem sketchy when i was a kid, but that didnt stop us from roaming around freely all day and night...which in hindsight is scary enough knowing now that w.a.d. was prowling at that same time

i moved to a small town in illinois so i am just curious about my old neighborhood

any help would be great
thanks

Uncle Milt's is now a Christian gym\church.

Fred Meyer moved down off Grand and highway 14, the old building has sat empty since then thanks to a non-competition clause Fred Meyer got from the city.

The grade school was torn down and is now a large park that pee-wee football uses for practice and games.

As far as Evergreen Park goes, it's the gang banger hangout. The cops are always there, they never respond with only one car either.

As the song goes, the old grey mare ain't what she used to be.

just 20 more years of ghetto. Too bad... I think it was the kiss of death when "old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor" bailed out

Then the mother ship (Farrel's) in Lloyd district folded a few years ago.... I don't know where I would take my kids today for an old fashioned "Drum / song / birthday Bash..."

And there was never another place like Uncle Milt's ever again. It was all so different back in the 80's. Man, I miss Reagan.
