I'm exploring options for college in WA, and have been considering moving from Bellingham to Vancouver. I've lived in Tacoma, Pullman, and Bellingham, but I'm unfamiliar with the PDX region. How is the school? How does the weather vary from the north end of the sound? Any other pointers or advice?

One of my kids did WWU, one did WSUV. WWU was a better experience (and edu) at the time ~ 2 -3 yrs ago.

What is your major? There are some good programs and some not so good programs at WSUV. This is largely due to it being a satellite campus and still growing. (Some programs are sparsely staffed, and it has but a fraction of offerings of Pullman)

What is you desire for social / employment opportunities? Portland is the place to find night life and social / cultural scene, you will be there often, it is 20 min away. Vancouver is suburbia, and many folks work in Portland and many attend the several colleges there (some good ones too... L&C, Reed, UP, PSU, PCC, CCC, MHCC, Marylhurst, G Fox and Linfield PDX campuses, Concordia, WP, PNCA ...). Weather is very close to the same, but from different effects. It can be colder in Vanc due to east winds, but Bellingham can get cold from Canada. B-town has a coastal ambiance, and that is absent in Vancouver, WA. The OR beach is nice and scenic, but 1.5 hrs away. Skiing about the same distance, but not the quality of Whistler, and more crowded than Baker. I lived on a CDN Island very close to B-town, and would say the weather is pretty much identical. (having also lived in Vancouver, WA)

I would generally say that WSUV is more conducive to those already working, or working their way through school, I'm sure it has a much higher median age of student than most U's. Or it may have a specific program you are well informed of. (By grads, not recruiters)

If coming from Bellingham, I would really miss proximity of BC and the great student activity center and sports of WWU, and CBC radio.
