Need neighbourhood advice please!! (house, safe area, good schools)

Hi everyone!! This forum is so helpful, I hope you guys can help me too! My husband and I are moving to Vancouver and would love advice on what neighbourhood would be the best for us! We have friends living in the Commercial Drive/Main Street areas which sounds like it has a great vibe. I'm an artist and we both love being involved with the community and activism. So we'd maybe like to be around there or a short drive away, but what is the housing like?

We are mid-20s with a baby and dogs so we definitely want to live in a nice safe area with trees and a yard for playing/entertaining friends. We love nature! We'd love to have a little house with character that we could make into a home. Any suggestions on where would be a good place for us?

the tri-city area is nice but a small house will run you around $450K-$550 any house in downtown vancouver will be over a million and that would be a small run down house it is very expensive out here but if you serach around it is a great place to live and great community and good schools...anyways hope this helped and welcome to vancouver

if you're the artsy type, commercial sounds really good, so does kits area..
personally, I like north vancouver, very quiet, and very nice..right by the mountains..
