Animal. There is a great variety of excellent food that can be enjoyed without the need to hurt animals.

both, I believe it is healthier, but number one reason is animals - I don't want to eat other living feeling beings.

I believe that the health benefits are a nice side effect to a diet that doesn't hurt animals.

Neither, when I was vegetarian. It was because of a guy. HE was vegetarian and so I became one to make him love me. Didn't work. I remained a vegetarian for quite awhile after that but ultimately realized that I just flat out enjoy eating meat too much to refrain entirely.

I -do- still enjoy certain vegetarian dishes. That's definitely something I can thank the experience for.

What she said. But the main reason - cruelty.

Both. For the animals' sake, I want to avoid the cruelty and misery of factory farming. For my sake, knowing what I know about how the animals are treated and the conditions they live in--the filth, the diet (often containing their own feces), the antibiotics, the hormones, the disease--I wouldn't want to eat anything that came from there.

A little of both. Mostly health. I have no problem taking an animals life to feed myself, I just don't like the way the food industry does it. I think it should be more local and personal.
