When I have guests over, or cook for a social event, I plan a menu that features several different vegetarian or vegan entrees, side dishes, desserts and an appetizer or two. I love to cook, and it's always fun to share vegetarian dishes with carnivores, they are always amazed at the variety of food they can eat that doesn't contain meat.

Many non-vegetarians think that all we eat are vegetables, so it is fun to let them experience a variety of vegetarian recipes. I enjoy it when they ask for copies of the recipes I use.

I don't cook meat for my guests, even if they are non-vegetarians. I wouldn't feed my guests something that I wouldn't eat myself. And I wouldn't want to purchase meat anyway. I was wondering what other vegetarians serve their guests when they entertain.

i cook vegan food for everyone.

no one NEEDS to eat meat at every meal. people who eat meat can eat everything i make (barring any food allergies obviously). and the food i cook is good.

people who hate broccoli don't feel the need to cook it for social events that people who love broccoli are attending. it's pretty much the same thing.

i don't know any carnivores though. all the meat-eaters i know are omnivores, except my cats (who eat meat).

If those fools want meat, tell them to go kill it with their bare hands, and eat it raw. (They won't, so don't worry)

No way! I'm an ethical vegetarian. I do not have it in my home much less cook with it!

I don't know any human carnivores. Omnivores, please.

I wouldn't expect any of you to serve me meat at a party, and I'm sure I'd love your food (provided you are a good cook ). If I brought my husband to the party, I'd probably tell him to eat something before we got there.

Agreed! If someone wants to be responsible for mistreatment of animals they will have to dine elsewhere.

My teenage daughter made me a sign years ago for my kitchen that says, "No animals were harmed during the preparation of this meal."

Absolutely not. Dead animals are never cooked in my home. Guests are treated to a very good vegan meal. If they feel like they need to eat meat they should eat before coming over.

My daughter (who is vegan) is very accommodating about it - she incorporated me to cook the ham and turkey at Christmas. She just divided up the leftovers with all the meat eaters to take home so she wouldn't need to keep them in her refrigerator. We tailored some of the vegetable/potato recipes to make them completely vegan (as in using soy milk) and nobody noticed.
