What breads do you choose when making a basic veggie sandwich? White bread tastes pretty good with veggies. I tried sourdough bread with veggies, but the taste seemed to clash a little. What breads go well with veggie sandwiches?

Asiago cheese bread, or any kind of herbed bread would be good.

I like pumpernickel with rye, especially if some of the veggies are grilled

Whole wheat with some substance to it - seeds, oatmeal, etc.

This is my choice also - I like chewy, stout bread.
Second choice: A good white bread with a tasty crust. The type of bread often labeled "artisan" and sold in nicer bakeries.

Oregon Herb (onion, dill, lots of seeds) or Tomato bread from Great Harvest.

I wasn't aware that any kind of bread used for sandwiches "clashed" with vegetables.

If it's available near you, this bread is delicious. Doesn't have that dry, cardboard-y taste. I've tried all the varieties. An ex-con that went good:

Outside of personal tastes, I would say that crusty french bread and ciabatta are the best. They have more of a "neutral" bread taste, offer a "hard"-but-airy and chewy texture, and still tastes great when dry.
