Hello,

I've searched the forum and couldn't find an answer so...

What recipes or advice do you have to make vegan mashed potatoes? Just use oil instead of butter?

Usually I make my recipe with sour cream and butter

Happy holidays

Just use margarine made with vegetable oil.

I use corn-oil margarine and no milk, just a tiny bit of water. Comes out great.

I'd recommend using the water they were boiled in or almond milk, along with the vegetable oil based butter suggestion from everyone else.

Leave in some of the water they were boiled in, add your chosen dairy milk alternative, and vegan butter (NOT oil). Add vegan cream cheese or vegan sour cream if you can get it where you live.

I use Yukon Gold potatoes with Earth Balance and a little unsweetened almond milk. I think the secret to great mashed potatoes is a potato ricer. My husband got me one last year, and it really is a great tool! It makes the potatoes tender and fluffy.

I like making them with garlic roasted in olive oil and soy milk.........which I think is way better than the traditional ones made with butter.

I like Pontiac Reds myself. And I always leave the skins on when I mash. Lots more flavor that way.

You could always add avocado. I added avocado to my mashed potato last night and it really adds a nice creaminess, can't taste the avocado.
