The competition in lab-made veggie burgers is heating up. Beyond Meat has brought its burgers to more than 1,000 Carl's Jr. locations in the US, marking its Beyond's largest restaurant deal to date. Order a $6.29 Beyond Famous Star and you can eat a vegetarian (sorry vegans, there's American cheese) burg that tastes much like its conventional beef counterparts. You can also pay $2 to add a Beyond patty to other burgers on the menu.
That's amazing. I needed some moving boxes and got permission to take the discarded ones at a Sonic once, years ago. But when I got them in the car, realized they reeked of blood and I had to toss them out.
It's like the woman who found a chicken head in her Kentucky Fried. It's easy to forget what this stuff actually is. Most meat is tasteless until covered with spices and sauces. I think it's nasty. I've been this way since I was a little girl. I remember the dinner table conversation and my parents exchanging glances.
“We knew our customers would be excited about the introduction, but we were blown away by the response and the amount of new customers who are purchasing this burger,” said Patty Trevino, Carl’s Jr. senior vice president of brand marketing. “The Beyond Famous Star is one of our best-selling items and continues to attract customers who are looking for alternative protein options.”
Who was saying that this is just a passing "fad?"

The Beyond Burger was added as a "limited time only" item, so to have it now become permanent is good news.
