Please relax. You're reinforcing the notion that vegetarians and vegans are unreasonable jerks. Ranting to your meat-eating friends isn't going to accomplish anything other than confirming that you should be avoided. It's just like a newly Christian ex-drug addict preaching salvation.
Uhh..I realize that and said as much myself. That's exactly why I'm here. So I don't rant to people who don't want to hear it. I don't have any vegan friends and I am trying to find some. And I wasn't asking about what anyone thought of my behavior. I was asking about the marrot.
Some eat real fake burgers others eat real fake carrots.
Sometimes people have bad days and show an ugly side. I wasn't asking if I was out of line, I already acknowledged that. I was asking about the marrot.
I don't see what there is to be angry about, that is exactly the reaction Arby's wants. I find it hilariously desperate. The future is vegan, whether they like it or not. It's as silly as the dairy industry trying to keep plant based milks from being called milk. They are trying to stay relevant in a changing world and I just laugh at them as they fail!
On the radio this morning, they said Arby's new slogan could be "we have the beets!' Come on, that's funny stuff right there.
And from the tone of your post, it would appear that if those in agreement with you ever attained a majority, you would force your thinking on the rest of us whether we liked it or not.
Within the "new sensitivity", lies the usual desire or power, and as Lord Acton observed about a century an a half ago, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I don't think it's a matter of anyone forcing anyone to do anything. Factory farming is unsustainable in the long term.
I didn't realize there were so many omnivores coming to this sub. My question was really just for vegans and vegetarians. I don't expect any omnivores to be upset about a meat carrot. I would edit my OP, but I can't figure out how.
Has everyone heard of Arby's plan to roll out a meat-based carrot? I just heard about this last night and I kind of went mental. I ranted to three meat-eating friends about it. They tried to change the topic, but I kept talking about it. I wasn't specifically calling them out, but I may have said things that could be interpreted as me thinking I'm better than people like them. Stuff like about how selfish it is to kill an animal for the 15 minutes of pleasure you get while eating it and then forget all about soon after you've finished eating. I don't think I'm better than them and I haven't even been vegan for a really long time. But I just lost my cool. And I usually try really hard to be polite, as I really don't want to be labeled a crazy vegan.
Anyway, I thought maybe it's time to try to find vegan or vegetarian friends to discuss these things with, so I don't act like a psycho around meat-eating friends. Is anyone else as upset as me about this "marrot" garbage?
LOL! Seriously? If you are this upset at something this silly, you might want to consider talking to a therapist. I mean...why on earth would you even care?? It's most likely a publicity stunt.
Now, as for this statement...
"I may have said things that could be interpreted as me thinking I'm better than people like them. Stuff like about how selfish it is to kill an animal for the 15 minutes of pleasure you get while eating it and then forget all about soon after you've finished eating."
That sort of nonsense will certainly win you no friends. And it WILL get you labeled as a "crazy".
I'd suggest taking a nice little vacation with no access to the media.
My friends understood, because real friends don't write you off for getting upset sometimes. They know I don't like animals being killed, especially not for silly things like PR stunts. One even used to be a vegetarian and says he admires anyone who can stick with it.
I also don't like being made fun of for caring, which seems to be happening a lot lately. And someone asking me what I thought of the marrot was the last straw (I wasn't even the one who brought it up). Interestingly, I usually don't even bring up being vegan unless I have to because of a food situation. It's usually someone asking me about it and then proceeding to lecture me about how crazy/unhealthy/dumb it is or try to debate with me about it. This was one time I was acting that way.
Once again, my question was directed to vegetarians and vegans. It sounds like you're not either, if I have to explain why I was upset. This probably isn't a good place to interact with the type of people I'm looking for. I have to tiptoe on eggshells around omnis in real life enough. I don't want to do it online, too.

Unfortunately these forums are open to everyone, even if they don't agree with you. By the way, I think the marrot is gross... but it doesn't make me angry any more than the Impossible Burger does.

What made you think that we wanted to hear (or rather, read) your rants?

The only questions you asked in your OP was if everyone had heard about Arby's marrot and whether anyone was as upset about if as you are.
The answers should be obvious to you by now. Yes, we've heard about it; and no, absolutely no one is as hysterically and ridiculously upset about it as you are.
