FWIW, will add, most diets out there simply dont include nearly enough veggies. And the veggies they do include are cooked within an inch of their life and smothered in some "flavor enhancer" usually including bunch starch/sugar.

Need to eat a boatload veggies and little bit of everything else. I've gotten so I much prefer my veggies chopped and raw with little vinegar and olive oil. Works for me, but each to their own.

Just to make it more complicated,

In India and under context of Indic religions, vegetarian implies dairy included with plant based foods, but not eggs. Lacto vegetarian. i.e. Eggs are viewed in the non-vegetarian or meat category.

In the US and possibly other western countries, vegetarian typically includes dairy and eggs with plant based foods as well.

Another point:
Cheese can be technically non-vegetarian if it has animal enzymes/animal rennet in it, but even most vegetarians overlook this. But I have family members that are particular about choosing (at the grocery store) cheese blocks with microbial enzymes or non-animal over animal enzyme cheese.

My only response to this and I am certainly not a vegan or vegetarian is: there are always that can suggest anything. Remember polls, surveys and studies usually have an agenda to prove. I am a huge vegetable lover but still want my meat about once a day.

My understanding is: they are vegetarian foods and we have 2 vegetarians in our family. They are not vegan foods, that is the difference, or how it has been explained to me.
