"My perspective of veganism was most affected by learning that the veal calf is a by-product of dairying, and that in essence there is a slice of veal in every glass of what I had thought was an innocuous white liquid - milk." ~Rynn Berry

Thanks for this info. Always hated milk and beef. Surprizing what a person will do to feed his family though. Thank goodness my family has never needed to be part of this industry!

Yep, there is no getting around it. If you are a vegetarian for animal welfare, you should seriously consider cutting out dairy. All the male calves that are born from dairy cow are killed for veal (http://www.mercyforanimals.org/dairy_and_veal.asp - broken link). And ALL dairy cows end up at the slaughter house (http://www.hsus.org/farm/news/ournews/downer_investigation_050708.html - broken link) after their peak milking years.

I encourage you to live the most peaceful life you can...just seems to be something that rings hollow about the newer green and eco-freindly movements afoot.

if people really want to save mother eath, they would take on a more...hippy commune style of life...tune out, get off the grid and put their money where their mouth sits.

I tire to see all the posers pitching eco-friendly products that in reality take as much resources to manufacture and house...as any other product.
