Trim large stems off fresh kale, drizzle with olive oil and season with black pepper or other seasonings (you can omit salt, it doesn't really need it). Bake in 250 oven for about 30 min, or until dry and crunchy, it's ok if it browns.
Good for a snack, garnish or to pair with other foods. If you don't like kale, this recipe won't change your mind, but if you do, you will find it intensifies it's salty, nutty flavor
I heard about deep-fried kale and finally tried it. It was sooo good and sooo wrong! I was just thinking about trying it baked to make it a bit healthier. Thanks for the directions!
Finally tried this tonight and it was excellent! It was a lot healthier than the fried and my youngest loved it. I tossed it in olive oil and threw on a lot of pepper. It seemed to take longer than 20 minutes at 250 for me, so next time I will play around with it a little more.
After I took it out, I piled it on a plate and splashed a little balsamic vinegar over the top to give a little zing here and there. Very, very tasty!
I just tried a delish Kale sald the other day. Chopped kale drizzled with HOT olive oil, apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes, garlic and soy sauce.
And this morning...I use kale in my smoothie! 1 banana, cup of kale, soy mik, splash of OJ and chocolate soy milk, ice. It was great and GREEN! It was super food breakfast.
Kale is so yummy and so healthy - I could eat it every day in some form or another and never tire of it.
These kale chips are a great idea, especially as a way to teach someone that they actually do like kale after all.
