Folks, please.

Given that this is, really, a purely hypothetical question, let's keep this a civil discussion.

Thanks.

And by the way, I grew up in the mountains of CO, then lived in CA, then lived in NC and then moved here to NoVA.
So no, you may not pretend I do not know what I am talking about.

Again, tell us where the cows would live if they could not live on ranch land or government land.
That is the point of this, not telling people their thoughts are absurd (which just because you are not convinced does not make it absurd) or NIMBY.

I've answered your question already - did you read it? . What you haven't answered is why you think there isn't plenty of space for the cows to live on eating grass. If you read my statement earlier, you'll note that I don't assume they live on in the numbers they do now under current factory farming practices,

Plus, when someone makes an argument that is incongruent with itself, and sticks to it dogmatically, absurd is the correct word to describe it...

Absurd:
1 : ridiculously unreasonable, unsound, or incongruous <an absurd argument>

So forgive me if I confused your argument with those who think the cows will die off if we stop eating them...but given the way you've been echoing their arguments...it was hard to discern.

And your NIMBY argument is a nice personal anecdote but assumes there is nothing but residential land for the cows to migrate to. If I lived in the overbuilt NOVA and didn't spend much time in rural areas, I would have that same impression too.

There may not be as many cows in several years since farmers would no longer be using forced insemination to keep dairy cows pregnant (so they can produce milk) but instead of dying in 2 years, they would have a chance to live to their normal life expectancy; 15-20 years.

I'm well aware of the wild horses out here in the West and the sale of foals are a more recent phenomenen by the last administration which wanted to commercialize national parks, BLM land, etc.

The cows rounded up in some cities in India went to villages and rural areas.
In India, they're are not domesticated. They're used to humans, but don't rely on them--as they do here. If humans weren't providing them with food, water, and shelter--do you think they'd be able to find it on their own? Smaller animals find trees or burrows. A larger animals only option is a cave.
