I went to the Lazy Dog Cafe in Thousand Oaks on Tuesday. That was pretty good!

Now you are torturing me! I'm sure you are too nice to be doing it on purpose though

I would kill for a burrito AND a chocolate donut right now

Some of my favorites:

Andria's Seafood (best fish and chips I've had)
TO Fish and Chips (for east side folks)
Pho Saigon (pretty much only option for Vietnamese, but it's good)
Establos Meat Market ($1 pastor tacos = the bomb)
Charn Thai (best Thai place in a sea of Thai places)
Pookie's Thai Westlake (a bit pricey but large menu)
Peking Inn (best Chinese in Cam)
In-and-Out (duh)
The Hat in Simi
Sub Contractor for good, basic subs
Alpine Deli (shout-out to George, get the "Andes" sandwich, soooo good)
Wood Ranch, Bandit's, and TO Meat Locker for BBQ
Johnny P's in Westlake for great ribs & tritip
Snapper Jack's Taco Shack in Cam (good fish tacos!)
Olas in Old Town Cam (more surf-mex)
Sea Casa in Westlake
Lalo's Mexican in Moorpark
Topper's Pizza
Pizza Nosh in Agoura (oh I am starting to color outside the lines )

VCNative's mention of Asian places reminds me of (what's it called?) the Dumpling House in Port Hueneme, and Lee's Chinese in midtown Ventura. Lee's is very humble, but I always liked the food and low-key, casual atmosphere in that place.

I have been craving Snapper Jack's (fajita burrito) and The Hat (pastrami burger) lately. I don't even want to know the calories. Sub Contractor was pretty good too. We have so many restaurants in Dallas and really, I haven't been terribly impressed with the quality at the reasonably priced places. Most are small local chains and they do not use quality ingredients. Snapper Jack's, while not the most authentic, at least seemed to use pretty good ingredients and was tasty.

I guess I need to seek out some more hole in the wall places. I have found some damned good burgrs, though.

That's not surprising, for whatever reason, this area seems to have fairly bad restaurants. Personally, there is not a single place in Ventura County that has food that is to "die-for", the "ethnic" food is particularly bad.

I wish Ventura County would require grades on the windows of restaurants like LA county. I have eaten at a place on a whim and found out that it got horrible health inspections.
