Im moving out of parents house in Bay Area and moving to Ventura County. Already have a job lined up in Camarillo. Im just wondering where I could find the cheapest room to rent or apartment. $400-600 month would be ideal.

Craigslist, Renting sites have already been looked over.

Basically I want to know which city would probably have the cheapest apartments/rooms. Also, do more places open up/prices go down after June when the university grads leave?

Cheaper is better.

Thanks,
Robert

Besides some of the smaller inland communities (Santa Paula, etc) Oxnard will have the cheapest rents. You're not going to find an apartment for $400~$600.

CSUCI does have rentals near the school. They are also controlled by the school and I doubt would rent to anyone other than a student, teacher, or employee of the school. The campus is not exactly next door to Camarillo, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks or Port Hueneme. If you are looking for a place near the campus that may not be an option for you. Rentals that are near the school rent for 3 to 4 times what you are looking to spend and as I stated are not for people not connected to the school in some way. I have seen room's in homes that rent for $700 and up.

Studio appartments in Oxnard are in the $1000 range. You may find something in Santa Paula but the cost will still exceed your budget.
