When I searched I found an apartment thread but not many were mentioned. I was wondering if anyone had a positive rental experience if they could share what place and where? I guess any places to stay away from too. Thank you

The best rental experiences I had when I rented was renting condos directly from the owner. I had a nice condo rental in Oxnard Shores for about three years. Loved that place...the owner was great, never raised the rent..best to deal directly with the owner in my opinion.

Might try newer developments that they need people to fill them.

Anytime you move into a large "colony" full of diverse people you are going to get mixed reviews about the quality of living. Condos do tend to be better, but some have very strict HOA rules that border on being insane dictatorsips. With apartments, due to the economy, many are relaxing their general criteria in order to fill empty units, so even what was once a very desirable complex has become run down and full of people you probably wouldn't want as neighbors.

Thank you for your feedback. I am looking at private condo rentals but there seems to be limited for rent. Many of the apts in the areas just seem so filled with kids screaming and dogs barking or so many college students. This could be true in condos too. I know some have strict HOA because in FL where I was living I rented from many that were. I have no animals,or smoke, good credit etc so that issue is not a problem in terms of following rules.
Cyanna I think you mentioned in another post about property management co so I am going to look that up in the area too. I know many realtors don't like to be bothered with rentals in general
City do you know of any newer developments or you meant in general?

Daniella, I meant in general. Right now a lot of real estate brokers/agents are also doing property management since the real estate market is so bad. If you go to the Ventura County Regional database, the same link I posted elsewhere, you can also put in search criteria for Rentals - Condos. Check it out...
