My apartment in East(ish) Ventura only has trash cans in the rear, and my management company/landlords are terrible at responding to any sort of question.

I never see recycling (or even trash) trucks. Is there a city-wide recycling program? Is the trash single-stream and automatically separated? Do I have to collect my recyclables and haul them to a center, myself?

It's hard to imagine that there are still property managers in this area who do not make it convenient to recycle. But since that seems to be the case, you might have to collect and deliver yourself. I don't know about the Ventura center, but at Del Norte in Oxnard you can submit certain items for pay in weight. In addition to Del Norte, there is a private facility on Rice Avenue that will pay you for glass and metal.

From what I am thinking, if you are in an apartment complex chances are they only have the large bins that the truck lifts from the front to dump the trash. I don't think that you will find many bins to toss recyclables in.

I have seen neither hide nor hair of a blue bin or anything resembling recycling. So I assume that Ventura city does not have recycling trucks making the rounds along with trash trucks?

They do, but only at homes not apartments. Ventura has a three bin system like many other cities around the area. Trash, recycle, and yard waste. You place the trash out every week and then rotate the recycle and yard waste every other week.

Great. I'm in a big complex with dumpsters near the exit and entrance roads. Residents use trash cans right next to their units, and I assume the association must pick up the trash and move it to the dumpsters. There's no sign of any sort of recycling, but I haven't explored around the dumpsters. I'll check if there are blue bins there. If not, I'll ask the association or the city to put some there.

In our bills, we always get slips of paper that tell you where the places are. We have a big recycling bonanza here.
