Does anyone who has lived in Ventura county and OC have any input? In Ventura/Los Angeles county we are considering Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Oak Park, Agoura Hills and to a lesser degree, Calabasas. The areas we are considering in OC are Dana Point (first choice), Laguna Nigel, Mission Viejo and possibly Aliso Viejo. We honestly don't know which would be a better fit for us, Ventura county or OC, as they both have pros and cons. We would love to hear observations from those who have lived in both. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What is your job situation? Both retired, or working? I like both, and if I were retired I'd probably choose OC simply b/c it's easier or faster to get to the beach. But the Conejo Valley (WLV, TO, NP) has less traffic, less crowding. If you are employed, it's easier to switch jobs in the OC. Also, night life is more varied in the OC. Both regions have great weather, definitely better than Tarzana ;-)
