Which areas in Ventura are the most safe and family friendly? We will be bringing our kids (under 5 years old) and want to find a house in a neighborhood where there are other families raising children, rather than the majority of residents being retired or with grown kids. Are there pockets of more family oriented neighborhoods with young children in the area bounded by Victoria, Seaward, Foothill and the 101? We are also open to other suggestions, but this is the area we've been leaning towards.

I know of a great, safe, quiet street with several families with young children and infants near (within a mile of) your search area, which will have some properties coming open soon. Message me with your specifics (price range/rent, sqft, beds/baths, etc anything else you think of and I'll give you the details. Busy nowadays so allow a few days for a response.

Smile We just went through the same type of search in Ventura

My husband and I and two children 7 and 12 are moving this summer and it was very important to find the right schools and neighborhood. After visiting two consecutive weekends from up North, we decided on Camarillo. It is in Ventura county most of the public schools are outstanding and it is centrally located in between the San Fernando valley ( Thousand Oaks and Westlake too) and Oxnard/ Ventura beaches. It is perfect. The weather is gorgeous and so is surrounding areas. It is extremely family friendly. So until they build better schools or schools period around the beautiful new harbor/marina area in N. Oxnard we will reside in Camarillo.

You said it perfectly - the northern Oxnard are near Channel Islands is beautiful but mostly retirees or vacationers( like we had a beach house there 30 years ago) so no need to build schools since not many youngsters, but now with all the newer communities there will be a huge need and my understanding is they are building an elementary/ middle school on Victoria and N. Wooley in the next year or too. Wish it was built already because that is a perfect area and soooo close to the beach.

Good luck on your searches

No, we went for a home scouting trip but came back empty. It makes more sense for us to relocate, rent a home or apartment, and take our time in finding a home to buy. It is too difficult for us to manage a home purchase from afar.
