Posted this in LA section and should have posted here. Any feedback on this commute or what it's like in Ventura? What's the weather like compared to the Valley? I was hoping cooler.

There is a Metrolink station in the east end of Ventura and they do run a few commuter trains to Glendale Ventura County Line Schedule | Metrolink

The weather is much cooler in Ventura, especially near the beach

Can't comment on the train (although fares are not cheap) but Ventura is considerably cooler. To me, it often feels chilly. A hot day there is 75 degrees. It's also frequently windy or foggy.

Much cooler than the San Fernando Valley during the summer, and not as cold in winter.

Depending on your final destination in Glendale would determine if the train works out. I certainly would commute by train over driving a car. The Glendale station is served by local buses, so my guess is it's a good way to commute. The goofy thing about Ventura is that Metrolink and Amtrak have each their own platform, on opposite ends of the city from each other. In Oxnard both train lines use the same station, which offers much more flexibility for commuters, should you need flexibility. Amtrak and Metrolink have a ticket-sharing arrangement, but I don't know the details. Good luck to you!.

Definitely cooler in Ventura, without question.

Issue would be the train schedule.......if you are coming from Glendale going to Ventura the MetroLink would not work out.
It is a commuter train for those of us living outside LA going in to work.
So MetroLink has train going TO LA in the mornings & trains LEAVING LA in the evenings.
NO Ventura lines on weekends.
Other option is the Amtrak.....which is pricier than the MetroLink

As far as the 'Ride Share' program between Amtrak & MetroLink......you have to buy either the MetroLink monthly pass, MAYBE the weekly will work too, but definitely NOT the daily pass. MetroLink's pricing is on sliding scale, so the most expensive PER RIDE rate would be the 1-way ticket, the the round-trip ticket, the the 7-day ticket & then the monthly pass ticket.
