I currently live in base housing on Port Hueneme, due to disagreements with neighbors, we are seeking to move to an apartment out in the local area we dont have alot of money to spend (1200 a month max) but we wanted something that is pet friendly and isnt horrible.

Not an expert on pet-friendly apartments, but I believe that at least one of the apartment buildings on Victoria between Wooley and Hemlock (across from Seabridge) and another on Nautilus in Oxnard Shores accept pets. Rents in both for a 2 br. should be in the 1200 - 1500/mo range.

Hey BT let me know how it goes for you. My husband and I are are going to be stationed there in march. We have 2 large dogs and desperatly want to live off base. I have been looking online, just to get a feel for what is out there, and cant seem to find any listings that will take dogs.

Good luck to you

Joining the Navy helps. Other than that why would you want to live on base housing if you were not in the service?

Try the Los Arbolitos Apartments on Vineyard Ave at the north side of Oxnard. About 6 miles north of the base. I hear they have 2 bedroom units starting at $1,100 a month. They do allow pets but have size limitations on the pets. Sorry Barina, not sure if they will take large dogs.

Kcook, I misundestood you. I thought you said you wanted to know how to get accepted into base housing. If you are in the navy maybe you should check with the people that place families into housing. Chances are this forum will do you no good unless you are asking someone currently living on base.
