Worst case scenario, people might wonder if you were born in 1899 but look really good for your age or if you're from out of town.
I too am a fan of the America song, I was a kid when it was a hit on the radio. I thought they were saying venture a highway! It was sometime later I learned it was a city and the name of a highway in California, but always pronounced it Ven-tu-ra once I knew. Growing up in San Antonio I have to admit it grates on my nerves when TV shows or movies in LA pronounce the street or area as San Peed-row.

This thread took down a rabbit hole, maybe because I've lived in a lot of different towns in a lot of different states. I remembered how jarring it was to hear newscasters mispronounce Loogootee, IN, when I was a kid ( Hoosiers from that area pronounce it Luh - GO - tee). While trying to find an online example that got it right I stumbled upon this great site, filled with links I really want to travel down: https://www.rd.com/list/difficult-to-pronounce-towns/
