My partner and I will be moving to Ventura and I have been interviewing for jobs across Ventura County. I have two possible job prospects in Westlake Village. Is this a realistic commute? Where I live currently, my commute is about 45 minutes to 1 hour into work and about 30 to 45 minutes from work. Thanks in advance for your insight

The commute will be 45 minutes without traffic so it sounds about the same as what you have now. Realistic? Only you can answer that. ;-)

It’s a reasonable commute. Depending on where you work, the VISTA commuter bus might be an option as well.

The VISTA bus is a great (and super cheap) way to get to Warner Center if you don't mind getting up early. You (used to be able to) put a bike in the storage under the bus.

The drive sucks; about 45min-an hour in normal traffic. Can be delayed for up to an hour more with accidents. Thursdays are worst. My wife and I used to work in Canoga Park and commute to Ventura together. Riding together made the drive bearable. Most Thursdays we would stay in the SFV until after 7-8 when traffic cleared; see a movie or something.

My advice is to live where you work, but if you have your heart set on Ventura, that commute is do-able. Consider using the 118 to bypass the 101 when it is very busy. The 118 is a nice scenic drive, though it can get annoyingly congested around traffic lights when google diverts a bunch of drivers that way.

As long as you aren't living in Ventura hillsides or old Town it should be a reasonable drive. Ventura is kind of long. Better to go with Camarillo if you need to live in that direction.

It’s 27 minutes with no traffic from the College area of Ventura to the Gelson’s off Westlake Blvd.

It can be up to an hour to get home in traffic.
