Hi everyone,

My wife recently got a great job in Thousand Oaks. I work in the entertainment industry, so it's hard to plan on where to live based on where I'm working since I bounce around from studio to studio depending on the gig. That said, I've spent most of my recent career working in Studio City.

We are looking at houses in the Thousand Oaks/Simi Valley area and I was wondering what my commute may look like once the pandemic ends? My hours typically are from 10AM - 7PM.

Thanks a ton for any tips and suggestions!

Simi to Studio City - 118 to I5, then 170. From T.O., it is 101 the whole way. Starting at 10 will be helpful as you'll be driving at the tail end of the morning rush hour. Your homeward commute will take longer because there are just more people on the road and you'll be in the middle of rush hour.

The T.O. commute will be more stressful and I suspect will take a bit longer. People make longer commutes.

Thanks, are you thinking an hourish?

TO is pretty big. Commuting from WL Blvd is not the same experience as coming from Dos Vientos at all. North and west of the 23/101 junction get backed up during rush hours both ways. Oh and if you lived in Simi your wife would get a decent commute as well (depending on where again).

If you live off Westlake Blvd, Studio City is probably going to be 45 minutes to an hour most days each way near the times you suggested. Add 10-15 minutes if coming from western TO. Don't know about Simi, but its going to make your wife's commute much longer (that 23 traffic is no joke).

TO is nicer in general, but Simi hands down for commute options.
