I will be in Simi Valley in May for an overnight visit. I will be arriving mid afternoon by rail and will need to go to the Holiday Inn. Will there be public transportation available at the train stop?

While in Simi Valley I want to visit the presidential library. Can it be reached by bus or will I need to call a cab

I don’t think the Holiday Inn has a shuttle.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Read the timetables for Simi Valley Transit and see if it meets your needs. The routes go near both your hotel and the Reagan Library.

missionhome, thanks for the link to the bus line.

Charles, that link did help, but I am still looking for additional information on transportation.

My reservation is now at the Posada Royale Best Western on Madera Rd. Is that an ok hotel?

If I read the bus line map correctly, I can take the A Line to the hotel and the B Line back to the station.

Am I correct in taking the B Line to a transfer point and picking up the D Line for the presidential library?

Is this a safe area to wait for a bus? What about the area around the hotel. Can you safely walk to shopping centers near the hotel? Although we would be classified as "senior citizens" we do not have any limiting physical conditions.

You are correct on getting between the station and the hotel each way.

For travel between the hotel and the Reagan Library, don't bother with a connection. You would only ride the B line .3 miles and then connect. If I were you, I would just walk the .3 miles south of your hotel to the intersection of Madera and Royal. Catch the D Line there and ride it to the library. Again, be sure you plan to match the bus timetables. I think there isn't service on Sunday for some routes.

Thanks again missionhome, can you or someone else address the safety issue. The .3 mile walk will be an ideal way to stretch the legs.

Also, how far is it from the hotel to the Town Center? Can it be safely walked?

You will find it very safe in Simi. Many of the LA police Department live in Simi including my Brother in Law. Not to many problems there that you will encounter. For many years the area was listed as the safest community in the Nation, not just the state. It routinely comes out on the top of the safety list each year. No problem walking and you should be able to get to the Ronald Reagan Library by bus also. Ask the driver for information when you arive. They are always happy to help.
