The percentage of the Green Mountain State's population that is non-Hispanic white dropped from about 96% in 2000 to 94% last year. The number of people identifying themselves as black more than doubled to 6,277. Blacks make up 1% of Vermonters.
Vermont's population of Hispanics, who can be of any race, grew by 67% to 9,208. The number of Asian Americans and those identifying themselves as of two or more races increased by about 50%.

I would estimate 99 percent of that increase is from the Somalia Bantu refugees Burlington has been taken in by the hundreds for the past few years. Take a drive by the public housing on Riverside Ave in Burlington's Old North End and you would think your in Somalia. I am sure these people left some horrible place but have heard they are given priority to housing and social services over native Vermonters. I have also heard they have put a huge strain on the schools in Burlington as well. Google what happened to Lewiston Maine when they relocated there.

I love diversity. In fact, I thinks it's nice and diverse to have cities that
are not state mandated---> 25% Asian, 25% Black, 25% White, 25% Hispanic.

Having said that...I googled Lewiston, Maine and Wikipedia says it's only 1.8% black.
