Welcome to Vermont GypsySoul!

I'm in the area, work in Norwich (well, on the Norwich/Wilder town line) and live in Windsor. I think you'll really like this area, it has a lot to offer.

Thanks, Sporin (and others)...just trying to 'get accustomed' to things here. Had a serious crying spell this a.m. due to the culture shock (and not getting a job I had applied for).

This town is a bit too small for me...I know in a year I am going to have to move...then again, I might change my mind..

I sympathize with you on the small town culture shock and not finding a job yet. Two of the hardest things in Vermont to deal with outside of our crazy weather(90 degrees one day and fifty the next). Now you know first hand how different things really are here in Vermont. It's much different than when you are a tourist. It will take some getting used to or maybe a move down the road, but hopefully things will work out for you. I don't want to sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but for others considering a move to Vermont make sure you have some type of job lined up before moving here. Even if it's a temporary job.

I've read that it takes about 18 months to settle into a new location.

I remember when I moved from Manhattan to Narragansett, Rhode Island. I periodically felt close to tears for about a year. And my parents still lived in Brooklyn, so I had a familiar house to return to if I wanted to go "home".

Please be patient and give yourself some time to acclimate. The process can be painful at times.

If you are not happy with where you live now, you can move to a larger town. You could even move back to LI if you wanted to. You are not trapped.
