Howdy, looking for recommendations for local favorite spots off the beaten path. I mean places really good at something local line up to it en mass with masks of course

I did a lil research and came up with these ones:
  • Poorhouse Pies: a help yourself bakery operating on the honor system
  • Palmer Lane Maple: specialty maple creemee -- what you folks call soft serves
  • Thompson's Flour Shop: everyone raves about their fresh homemade bread for the breakfast sandwiches
  • Burger Barn: wide selection of burgers and even one consisting of grilled cheese in a bun

Does anyone know of any more out there like that?

Singleton’s Market in Proctorsville just south of Okemo/Ludlow. They have their own smokehouse. My favorites are their pepperoni, bacon, and teriyaki beef jerky. The usual general store guns & ammo, liquor, hunting-oriented clothing plus a pretty good selection of gourmet food. Very good butcher.

I never understood the fuss but Al’s French Fries in South Burlington

If you go to Thompsons in Morrisville, you have to go across the street to North Country Cakes and get donuts.

best creemees are the maple/coffee twist at Gladstone Creamery in Fairlee VT. If you are lucky a train will go by as you are sitting in the picnic area.

Maple/coffee twist is heresy. People get burned at the stake for less. LOL

We buy our maple cones at the sugar house on 100N in Ludlow. It’s the usual vanilla soft serve mix with maple syrup dumped into the mix. Is there anywhere you can get freshly made high fat content maple ice cream? Back in the early days, Ben & Jerry’s used to make it on site at the original Burlington gas station. It somehow loses something if it’s been frozen for any period of time.

Vermont Cookie Love in Ferrisburg was quite the treat. I discovered it on the side of Rt 7 from Burlington to Vergennes. So many flavors like Oatmeal with Dried Cranberries to mix with the creemee in maple flavor of course.
