I lived in nearby Windham for a time and had to drive all the way to Brattleboro for a while. The roads (like all of New England, really) are always well plowed and treated. That is not to say it is never icy or there are never times where it can get a little treacherous. The majority of the time it is just fine, like any other area accustomed to snow.
thanks, i used to live in Upstate NY and i didnt really worry about it, but was thinking about the rural roads in winter--i go skiing up there too but i havent been in awhile and tend to forget.
Hi
My aunt and uncle live in South londonderry, Vt
They live off Route 100.
My uncle family was in the lumber business for a number,
of years. They processed wood for furniture companies.
The mill was on a road called Winhall Station Rd.
My uncle father (Tink Smith ) was a major player,
in the planning and history of the ski resort Stratton, Mountain.
He has a ski trail named after him on the mountain.
The West River runs near by them them were they live too.
Question, do you know about the narrow gauge railroad,
that ran from South Londonderry and Brattleboro, Vt ?
The railroad also went thru the town of Jamaica.
i'm looking forward from hearing your reply and comments.
I live in the state of Maryland.
Sincerely,
Doug

My sister lives in Bondville (right near the Stratton resort). She commutes to Manchester for work five days a week, and doesn't have much trouble. She recently upgraded to an AWD vehicle, but until recently had a front wheel drive car. I think you have to drive sensibly, but it is a pretty managable commute. There are lots of tourists in this area, going to and from the ski areas, so the main roads are generally in decent shape.
