Does this "Driver's License Manual" (halfway down the page) include everything to study for the written exam?

If not, do you know of any other resources for studying for Vermont's written test?

I got my Vermont license Sep of last year, 2 months after we got here. I did all my learning for it from the manual and passed the written test with only one wrong answer. So I'd say it's pretty helpful.

One tip is pay attention to what they name everything - I personally think it's kind of silly but in my ROAD test he actually expected me to know what to do as a "vermont turnaround" or a "hill start". Instead of just telling you what to do, which I did fine, they also expect you to know the term for it - which is kind of unheard of anywhere else, cause who should really care what it's called as long as you can properly do it

Good to know. The person who is helping with the driving test actually tested in New York. I'll tip her off that this stuff needs to be covered.

How much driving do they really do in the road test? Was parallel parking done with actual cars on the side of the road?

Anything anyone can share about the road test would be greatly appreciated!

Wow. I just googled Vermont turnaround. That is not done in Pennsylvania. We do a 3 point turn right in the middle of the road without a side street.

Parallel parking was done with actual cars on the side and it was actually one of the first things - like in the first minute - I did mine in burlington so right after you leave the dmv and you're on market st on your way onto dorset st we did the parallel parking. Then we went onto dorset st and drove around for a bit then went and did the hill start and then drove some more then did the vermont turnaround. Then we headed back.

fer Petesake, that is a reverse driveway turnaround. Do that at a four way stop with traffic and you'll get all sorts of dirty looks and horn blowing. It never used to be on the test.

Besides, a REAL Vermont turnaround is finding an icy patch of road, cranking the wheels to a sharp left, applying the brakes to break traction, then gunning it to complete the turn.

I think it's more dangerous than a Pennsylvania three point turn because it's backing into another road. The three point turn is done where there isn't an intersection. The whole point of knowing how to do a three point turn is to be able to get yourself out of a situation where there aren't other roads or driveways for turning.

haha. Jeez. The VT turn around is something I might do if I had a big trailer in tow or something.

Hopes if you already have a DL from another state you shouldn't need to take any test.
