I know the 'Stratford Inn' was in Middlebury. Can somebody tell me where the opening countryside footage to the show was shot?

Thankx,

M

PS Going up there next week for my first time ever.

The Inn portrayed is in fact here in Vermont, but the scenery shot in the opening of the program is actually from New Hampshire, a cut from film taken during the production of "On Golden Pond" in 1981.

The "Stratford Inn" that you see in teh opening shot is the Waybury Inn in East Middlebury. The STratford Inn sign is hanging in the hallway between the pub in the back of the inn and the main lobby area.

Default Stratford Inn

The Inn that you see in the opening shots is of the Waybury Inn in East Middlebury on Route 125. The inn has since been painted a tan color instead of totally white. Inside the inn they still have the Stratford Inn sign..It used to
be propped up in the entrance to the restrooms but now
it is on the wall in the bar entrance porch area. The interior is nothing like the show's thought so do not expect it to be. SOmetimes on the opening shots they would show the front of the inn showing a row of bushes and other times not. The owners used to live across the street. But it has been sold once or twice since then.

If you google the show, there are some really neat facts about it (Wikapedia has some fun stuff posted). There is a good re-cap of the final show which includes some things I had forgotten (Lisa Kudrow of "Friends" was married to one of the Darryls !)
