I'm not. My ancestors on my mother's side were, but she and I were born on the other side of the Connecticut River over in New Hampshire. My wife and I are a week shy from the 25th anniversary of buying a home in North Troy and it got me wondering how many of you are from somewhere else and how many are native Vermonters.

I listen to Vermont Edition about twice a week, usually when I'm driving, and was unaware that this was covered so recently. I'll try to listen to the podcast tonight. Thanks for the link, joe!

I am. Looks like I'm outnumbered by the "flatlanders" so far though...

Vermonter born and raised here. Northeast Kingdom. We can trace my mom's side of the family to the Abenaki and my dad was a flatlander. Wait. Does that make me a half Vermonter?

As long as you are born here, you're full Vermonter . That's pretty cool about Abenaki. My husband is part Cherokee and Choctaw and also a Flatlander.

I'm living in Virginia right now but soon to be back home in Vermont but in Glover this time.

Sixth or seventh generation on one side of the family. At least two, probably more on the other side. Doesn't mean I could afford to live there anymore though. The old social security numbers used to tell the story. If you weren't an 008, you weren't born in Vt. All 25 of us knew that...

True. You gotta be that 008. Though I think they are at 009 now.

Swanstone1 - that's great! I think some Vermonters don't even have their heart in it anymore.
