I hear a lot of people simply can't afford CT anymore and are fleeing, and VT is "affordable" in comparison...I wish they'd quit acting like they're still in CT though...

When some one is right up behind me I usually just pull over and let them go by. They did that in Maine and at first it blew my mind. Then I realized its what everyone should do so I adopted it myself. Less aggravation for all involved.

I'd normally do that but I couldn't find a place to pull over where I was...

The best part is when you get some jackass like this (beeping, honking, pushing you along--believe me, folks, I lived in NY with some real idiots). You get up to a light and see this jerk is only a car ahead of you. He got really far driving like an idiot.

The #1 best thing about here in VT is most people are courteous and sensible drivers. I will miss that very much. When we drove down to MA a few times recently I was quite upset how badly they drove..(outside Worcester). I guess, I should not say 'bad' but aggressive.

A lot of out of state drivers are aggressive I'll agree. But many Vermonters seem to be so excited about being courteous they sometimes forget what they're doing. Its usually Vermonters doing things like stopping for a green light to wave two pedestrians into an oncoming motorcycle: Two Pedestrians Hit In Burlington Crosswalk - News Story - WPTZ Plattsburgh (http://www.wptz.com/news/23206961/detail.html - broken link) I've had a number of well meaning "courteous" drivers try to wave me into a car accident before, often while traffic piles up behind them. And some one kindly waved an SUV into the side of my wife's car one day after they stopped in the right lane of a four lane while my wife continued on in the left.

And my experience with pulling over to let people pass you in Vermont...is that it doesn't happen much. I realize I'm raging against reality with my little attempt to start a trend but I have to start somewhere!

Anyway, I've driven in Boston a couple times. Anyone who has to drive around in that city on a regular basis is going to become insane!

I have heard that the real Vermonters are more hardnosed about keeping things the way they used to be. I dont honestly know for I will be making a move to a state where the people are totally different than the state I live in. So we are in the same boat. Through the 7 years I have been traveling to Vermont and talking to many people who live there, the REAL VERMONTERS dont really accept any outsiders till years and years later....or maybe NEVER. So.....we take our chances. But I have met some very fine people there.

Default Bummer

She should learn to ski. Each winter a black ski club shows up for a week at Sugarbush. Nice folks.
