Get him a Best Buy or Frys gift card.

Gamers are VERY particular about what they play. They are also particular about the genres as well - RPG, FPS, Action, racing, sports, strategy, etc. Even if you know the genre he prefers, there are still games that he may think just flat out sucks.

A gift card is your best option.

My son is almost 22. he loves assassin's creed. I don't know if it is available in PC format, but it is really challenging. I would also suggest anyone out there who shops at best buy, sign up for the gamers club online. you earn best buy certificates for every dollar spent on video games and accessories.
