Some of you might have heard that California recently tried to ban violent video game sales to minors. Fortunately it will fail just like it always has and Activision of all companies argued against it and disproved the fake studies the soccer moms who, instead of being a good parent, are trying to ban video games, had tried to make.

Parents should be more aware of the video games that their children are playing.

Good for Activision, but naturally they produce some of these games, so have an interest in protecting their right to make them. Also defining violence so broadly would cover a ridiculously large number of games. It's just not practical at all.

its just stupid banning all violence in games to minors would ban most games, can anyone think of a decent game where there is strictly no violence??

I was an adult before "M" ratings came out on games.

I was playing mature games before there was a video game rating system. Of course, it's hard to make 8 bit particularly "mature".

There are ratings on boxes so why cant people read them ? The only reason for a bill like this is so somebody could pat themselves on the back that they did something good for society. Much like BSL it does not fix anything and just opens up the gates for all kinds of rediculous restrictions on gaming.

Surely there are no 12 year old kids out there with a job so they dont have the chips to actually go out and buy a game like Call of Duty Black Ops so mommy or daddy goes and buys it and has no idea what is in the game so like a majority of "good" parents in todays society they look for somebody else to blame except themselves. Why cant people look on the back, read what the game is about and then they will see the actual M on it too. Talk to your kids about violence and the reality in videogames. Mine did and I played them and turned out fine.
