Bioshock
Half Life 2
Unreal Tournament
Condemned Criminal Origins
Dead Space
Mass Effect
Castlevania 2
Castlevania 3
Dark Age of Camelot
Dragon's Dogma
Being 46 I played almost all those arcade games in the above list back in the day. I loved them and I hated them. Simply because at that age I was so uncoordinated I couldn't play the d**n things for s**t. If I could have put in some time to practice them I could have gotten better but I was dirt poor back then. You d**n kids don't know how good you have it these days!!! ..... did I just say that? D**nit.... Anyway enough grumbling from the old man. My list:
Honorable mentions in no particular order:
Half Life series
Red Dead Redemption (Good story, and I love the open world RPG-ish story games)
Silent Hill 2 (Great story)
Bioshock series (Amazing art design)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Not as good as the first, but not bad.)
Bottom six in no particular order:
Skyrim
Fallout 3/New Vegas
GTA series (Obviously...)
Indigo Prophecy
Mafia
Max Payne
4th and 3rd:
Vampire Bloodlines
Deus Ex (Nothing like the first couple of times you play through this game, unparalleled)
Second place for me is definitely
Uncharted 2; f@#$in' amazing writing for the story, fun gameplay too.
My favorite game ever so far is
The Last Of Us
Although I admit it's mostly because of the story. (Not that I really have any problem with the gameplay. I still enjoy playing even after all the many times I've played it.) Good plot and great writing and acting. It's written and acted in such a way that almost everything is communicated through facial expressions/body language/etc and almost nothing through bad dialogue. Almost no expositional dialogue and none of that kind crappy unrealistic dialogue where people explain their motivations, what they're feeling, etc. None of that, "Well, this happened and I felt this and it made me want to do this and that didn't work so it made me feel this and blah blah blah blah..." vomit. Great game.

My thoughts on the list before mine... i enjoyed the borderland games and the elder scrolls games on your list but the other ones are not made to my personal taste.

My list definitely has a nintendo heavy feel to it. But man, so many games out there that I am sure I missed. I just don't play that much anymore. I try to play through my son, but all he plays is Battlefield, CoD, and Halo. Which don't get me wrong, he enjoys playing, but I just can't get into them as much as Zelda's, Metroids, etc.
