I was all giddy and crap, until "Not representative of actual gameplay" popped up at the end.

Please make SC5 look like that Maxis... PLEEEEESSSE? Oh yea, and put it on the consoles.

They did say it's going to be fully 3D though.

Oh great! Another 3 years of my life will be wasted with sleepless nights, red eyes, failed relationships, etc.

Sadly, it looks like you must be online to play (with all the DRM garbage)...also expect this to be DLC rich, which basically means you will pay for a basic bland game and have to spend money for the good stuff.

Yeah. Cloud saves, probably limited modding, forced social play even when playing solo, etc.

Was elated at first announcement then became jaded and depressed on reading the small print.

Like Cities XL and Diablo III, the game will be pirated shortly after release. Not much point in it with DIII as it's really an online game, but EA has confirmed that SimCity is a single-player game with some social fluff on top. The DRM is merely there as DRM, it's unnecessary to be connected to the Internet in anyway to play the game, only to start it. The online doesn't really bother me that much, though. It's just sort of annoying. I have Internet access pretty much 24/7 as is. I can always tether my phone to laptop if I wanted to play it when I wasn't at home. Still... since it's really pointless and just an inconvenience to the paying customers, I don't really see the point. All it does is encourage people to pirate software.
