I used to have somewhat bad motion sickness as a kid (not as bad as you though by the sounds of it). I would sometimes get a bit nauseous if I played for more than 5 hours straight, especially FPS...When I first got Super Mario 64 on the N64 I think I played it almost all day straight (10 hours or something) and remember feeling dizzy to the point of nauseous after that lol.

I had gotten motion sickness once from playing too much Halo 3 back in 07'. It just kind of snuck up on me and I realized that I had to lay down. Terrible feeling but Im guessing this rarely happens.

I have had 12 hour gaming sessions and I have never had any problems. It does happen to some people though. I too wonder why your husband has a complete lack of empathy to your situation. If he can't play games on his own, he shouldn't be playing them IMO. Can't your kids help him play if he just needs an extra set of eyes?

I started playing the new Far Cry New Dawn game last night, and after a few hours I had to stop because I started to get dizzy and felt a bit queasy.

Prior to that I was playing Read Dead 2 and Assassins Creed Odyssey for many hours. Those games use the third person view (option on RD2).

It kind of also happened when I played Fallout 4.

It's a whole new world regarding motion sickness and video games compared to 2012. Flat gaming? Soon to be old school. For those that feel sick now, wait for the future. Welcome VR.

I read in the internet about many problems with VR - nausea, dizziness. It's just too real. Fortunetly I don't have that problem except when banking hard in a flight game like UltraWings in PSVR. It's apparently an issue that the gaming community needs to address however.

I can never play first-person view games due to dizziness. All my games must be in third person view.

Yes, I have the same issue. I have an eye disorder and can’t see 3D at all. My eyes just don’t process the images (particularly close up) as 3D and it gives me a splitting migraine and nausea. So does the shaky camera. About 2 minutes into a shaky camera show and I feel like I just need to crawl into a dark, quiet room. I also have to change the settings on my phone to get rid of the annoying 3D effects every time because that nauseates me. I hate when the upgrades reset it back to that view since it is an accessibility setting.

I sometimes get motion sickness from using a VR headset while playing racing games.

I don't suffer from motion sickness in VR but I know others do, as discussed in my post above. From what I have read, eventually you get over it, they call it getting your "VR legs". Other things you can do to help - put a fan on yourself, eat ginger, take frequent breaks. The game creators are adding comfort features to the VR games as well - adding blinders, etc. I turn them all off as they take away from the VR experience, but they are there to use if you need them.
