As you may have seen in our recent announcementregarding the release of Rock Band Blitz tracks as singles, Rock Band DLC production has gradually slowed over the past five years. We have managed to maintain a consistent release schedule for a staggering 275 consecutive weeks, releasing over 4,000 songs for the Rock Band Platform, but in recent months we’ve scaled production down as we’ve transitioned resources onto other projects. With several new titles in development and developers needed to usher these new games along, April 2nd will be the last weekly DLC release for Rock Band.
I haven't downloaded anything for Rock Band in a while, because I haven't wanted to spend the money. Kind of shame they are dropping this franchise but I guess I can't blame them. If there was a new game released, I almost certainly would have bought it, though.
The suits at the record companies and/or the artists (usually the suits) are so short-sighted that they don't realize these games will generate sales for back catalogs by sparking interest via the game.
It is sad to see but as BS said, I haven't bought a new song in a long time. That's mostly due to having a baby in June and having little time to play the game. I did happen to look recently and saw a lot of songs that I wouldn't mind downloading, but they did seem to charge an unbelievable amount for song downloads. And there were occasional ones that I downloaded because I liked the song but it was terribly boring to actually play.
Yeah, it was kind of pricey at a buck or more (usually more) a song. But they had to pay for not only the song itself but to program it, record it, maintain the server, etc.

I think most songs were 240 points, which is approx $3. I understand it should cost more than a normal download on iTunes. I mean, it didn't exactly prevent me from buying them!!

Oh My God guys, get rid of the plastic toy guitar with buttons. Move on to a real mans game - Rocksmith or the upcoming Bandfuse.
I guess by your logic, I should go join the Mage's College at Winterhold as well. I could learn some real Destruction spells.
