At that point I pretty much lose interest. There are only so many bandits I can kill before I just don't care

(Which is not to say they're bad games at all, I just find open worlds quickly bore me for the above reasons)

I haven't played Dragon Age yet though...keep meaning to get around to it.

I agree with 11thHour...I wish games were either single player or multiplayer, not both...it seems like one side or the other always gets shortchanged. And for the love of all that is holy, don't make a single player franchise multiplayer on the second or third game!
I get bored too. After about 100 hours or so, at which point I quit for a while. A while later, I restart and discover things I missed the first time around and play for another long while. All games are pretty much repetitious at some point but I get much more gameplay out of open worlds. For me, it is more about playing the game than beating some insane challenge.

I also like the single player games and I am always looking for long and interesting games. I liked Two Worlds, Skyrim, The Reckoning, and the Orange Box - I felt that I more than got my money's worth out of those games.

But it is more than just short or long. Games have to have the right difficulty and ease of play. If I have a game too difficult I loose patients. Or, if the controls are too awkward and cannot be reconfigured; I also loose interest. I also don't like repetition - like climbing towers to 'map' new areas (that gets old after the first five or ten).

Ugh...controls! I just tried to play Shadow of the Colossus for the first time ever. People rave about that game, but the controls made me so ANGRY after the first ten minutes I had to walk away.
