Yep, Red Dead Redemption is about the only thing from Rockstar that wowed me in the PS3/360 generation of consoles. GTA IV and GTA V seem more like tours of real life cities than insanely funny and creative video games with outrageous characters. GTA V seemed flat across the board. None of the characters were very interesting (where IV had some interesting characters.) Trevor tried really hard to pull of the crazy, unpredictable madman, but it all seemed forced. I felt like dumping Michael's son in the ocean. V didn't even have a rival gang or real villain. Some jokingly call it a retirement simulator, with golf, stocks, middle aged protagonists, and sunny setting.
Exactly. GTA used to have some witty social satire, but now it's the video game equivalent of dick and fart jokes.
