I'm currently playing Far Cry 4 and the area is huge. I've played other games like Fallout, Assassin's Creed, and some of the earlier GTA games but I know many of you have played a lot more games than I have. What are some of the open world or sandbox games that have the largest area to explore?

The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim is huge and feels never-ending. In a good way. Best played on PC for the mods.
Grand Theft Auto V is like 100 square miles large and really fun. On PS4 it's especially great.
Dragon Age:Inquisition has numerous maps that are very large so it's one of the largest open world games. The advantage of the multiple maps/regions is that the landscapes vary dramatically. Unfortunately there's a lot of dead space in the maps so not every region feels lively. Also best played on PC. There aren't many mods yet but it looks best on PC and some mods make it more enjoyable/user friendly.

Love me some Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas

there are so many choices you make along the way, you can literally play the game 5-6 times through and it never plays the same. hello Bethesda, we're ready for Fallout 4!

Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim are unsurpassed in the number of things they pack into the map. New Vegas with certain followers and multiple endings and side stories was just plain being like a kid in a candy store for me. Just Cause 2 is unsurpassed with the size of it's land mass and the number of towns to visit though most of them are pretty genetic by comparison and the gameplay feels more repetitive due to the lack of any story or character development.

Far Cry 3 is just plain fun especially with ziggy's mod... so fun I will probably pick up Far Cry 4 when it hits the $15-20 price point.

GTA San Andreas is still a favorite... GTAV I have not played yet.. once I hits <$25 on steam in a couple years I'll pick that up.

I was going to mention this. I think that this is the largest game map.

I've heard games like Fallout, Dragon Age, and Just Cause are pretty huge. I haven't played any of them, except for the first Just Cause, but I didn't like it too much and don't remember anything about it really.
